Do you feel nervous about visiting the dentist? Do even minor procedures, such as a dental cleaning, lead to anxiety? Don’t worry, you’re not alone. We understand that for many people fear of the dentist is real, and a hindrance to their oral health. To address this and help patients undergo treatment while remaining calm and relaxed, we offer sedation dentistry.
Your Consultation
First, the doctor will simply sit down and talk to you during your initial consultation. After looking at your medical history, current health, and taking into account your anxiety levels, the doctor will recommend a sedation option. We actually offer two different forms of dental sedation.
Treatment Planning
Our dental sedation options include:
- Nitrous oxide: Also known as laughing gas, nitrous oxide is administered via a small mask over the nose. You breathe in the gas and enter a calm state. The effects wear off almost immediately after the procedure, so you can return to work or school.
- Oral Conscious: This is given in pill form prior to the procedure. You will enter a much deeper state of relaxation while remaining conscious. We will recommend avoiding food and drink in the six to eight hours before your visit, and you will need to arrange a ride home from a friend or family member.
